I have two dual-boot laptops running on wifi network. Both have Win 7 64 and SuSE 13.1 and all are running Firefox for sync simplicity.
My lenovo running SuSE functions well, with good internet speed. The same computer on Win 7 has deplorable speed on firefox and internet explorer for the last 3 weeks. I have recycled the router, reinstalled firefox and reinstalled the wifi modem. My HP laptop...

different putty dropping behavior in windows xp and 7, how to fix it?
I am using putty to ssh to a remote cluster to work. To avoid it automatically disconnecting after some time of idle, I changed the setting in putty, and also changed the setting on the linux machine on the remote cluster. Now it seems it will not drop any more on windows xp, but it still keeps dropping after some idle time on windows 7. I did have removed the power saving feature of network...

Should I/we trust VPN services?
Sorry guys, I'm kind of new to VPN and want to know more about it while asking some questions.
I know VPN has tons of benefits when it comes to connecting to internet, but since we're connecting a VPN thru a server, how do i know that server is not keeping track of my stuff? And also, how is my connection encrypted?

PC Blocking Android Devices on LAN
I got my new phone a few days back and so I wanted some utilities for my PC such as Logitech Arx Control, MSI Afterburner remote, TeamSpeak 3 remote, Battlelog and Limelight (lets me use my android device as an nvidia shield). My issue is that something in my PC is blocking my phone from connecting with either of these apps. I have tried using another android phone with the same apps and I have...

Independent wi-fi management software
Do you know any wi-fi management tool that is completely independent from the Windows 7 wi-fi services?
Long story short: I have an optimized windows 7 installation that have some completely unusable services. All their files are existent, incorrupt and accessible, but they still refuse to work. No repair function can solve this, nor sfc ou any other.
Among those unusable services is the...

Remote Desktop Connection
Hello!
I started learning VPN but it's not as easy for me so now I will first learn how to set and use a Remote Desktop Connection.
And I think I've got it, it's working, it's really easy, but I'm getting warning messages like "Unknown publisher", "Remote computer cannot be verified.", "The Certificate is not from a trusted certifying authority." etc.
Why is that so? I am connecting from...

more ping drops on interface 1 than interface 2
Hello forum Gurus,
I Have a machine running Windows 7 x64 with two network interfaces. This machine is being used as a DVR and is connected to 4 ip cameras. The DVR software is Milestone Go.
When using interface one 3 out of the 4 cameras work without any problems but camera 4 constantly drops offline with lots of ping timeouts on average about %60 loss.
When using interface two there...

Difference of internet speed on LAN and Wi-Fi
Hello guys. I just bought a router (ipTIME N604R plus).
Here are the specs:

I'm just curious why there's a big difference between my speed on LAN and on Wi-Fi. I know there's a disparity but I just think it is too big? Or this one is still normal?

Windows 7 internet speed slow on wireless, but fast on wired
I have two Windows 7 Laptops that connect to a Motorola SURFboard eXtreme cable modem SB6121. Suddenlink (cable provider) recently upgraded our network which gives 50 MPS speeds or more. I can only get 50 MPS when I disable wireless on my laptop and connect with a direct cable. Otherwise I get 20 MPS maximum speed. I borrowed a Windows 8 PC this weekend and was getting 51 MPS speed using wireless...

Make a Desktop available to multiple users
Hello,
At present I am the only user on a PC running Win 7. The PC is on a work network so multiple users can log into this PC if they have an ID on the network.
Is it possible to make my desktop available to other users who log in to the computer. Particularly I would like to make multiple drivers and installed programs available to particular users who log-in to the PC. (ie the programs...

Remote Assistance on Terminal Server
Hi there,
at my job we just set up Remote Assistance for al the machines in the domain. The only problem we have is that we are not able to use the Remote Assistance for the users who work on Thin Clients or log in remotely from outside the network. When these users log in they are assigned to a Terminal session from out Terminal Server. This means they do not have an unique ID which we can...

How do I elevate Remote Desktop Privilege?
if I remember correctly, even Administrators lose some privilege when coming in via remote desktop (vs local logon). Also that that can be changed somewhere in local policy. But I can't find it. I'm hoping someone here remembers and can point me to the right place to change that.

Win7 Home Premium: Sharing a printer
I'm trying to help an elderly neighbour share his printer with his wife's Android tablet.
I fell at the first hurdle; I can see the (USB attached) printer in Devices and Printers but can't work out how to share it. It seems like a case of "You can't get there from here".
Does Windows 7 Home Premium give Stan the choice of sharing his printer?

Problem with Network service, Win 7
So I have a problem that cropped up and I checked this with my other Windows 7 machines. My system is a Windows 7 64-bit Pro. I checked my settings and compare those to my other Windows 7 machines and those match.

The only thing I know of is the QOS settings, which dont work AT ALL or a 3rd party program that goes on a specific computer.
Specifically I was hoping to reserve a specific amount of upload and download bandwidth to a repeater...
